About Us:

The Orhan Gunduz Memorial School (OGMS) was established to provide Turkish language and cultural learning opportunities to students of all ages and levels of mastery and to build community in the greater Boston area. Established in 1994, the school has grown both in its number of students – children and adults – as well as the number of families who enjoy the sense of community and celebration of Turkish culture it provides. OGMS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with formalized by-laws and an organizational constitution that will ensure the school’s legacy for years to come. Demet Tatar has been the OGMS Principal since January 2020 and is tackling the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Principal:

Our new school year starts this Sunday, September 19th, 2021 at 10:30 AM. After careful review of the current health situation and the results of the survey that was conducted by our parents and teachers, we have decided to start this year’s classes online. Last year, even though it was our first online education experience we had a great year. Our teachers observed that our students were able to grasp the concepts and exceeded their expectations. We have great confidence that this year’s online education will be even better than last year. We value in-person education very much and we will keep monitoring the health situation and switch to in-person education as soon as possible. But for now, we believe that online education is the safest alternative for our students who are not eligible for vaccination yet.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
